I ordered this product after conducting a lot of research on recumbent bicycles. I purchased this product from Bayou Fitness through Amazon.com. The first thing that went wrong was that when it arrived the box had been badly damaged in shipping and the bike was so damaged that it was impossible to even put it together. I contacted Bayou Fitness requesting a refund. A week later instead of the money I received a new bike. I wasn’t particularly happy about it because I had found a different one that I was considering purchasing but I decided to give it another try. On a happy note, both times I received the 4550 model which was an upgrade at no additional cost. Too bad that this bike didn’t work! The box was in perfect condition and the bike wasn’t bent like the last one. This time the computer didn’t work. Without the computer it is impossible to adjust the tension and it was so tight it took all your strength to get the pedals to go around just once! I contacted Bayou Fitness and was told to contact the manufacturer (Stamina). I told the operator what the problem was and was told that a new computer would be sent out ASAP and it should arrive in 3-5 business days. I waited 10 before calling again. This time I was told that the part I needed was on backorder and had been for a couple of months now with no date of when it may come in. Now I start to get really ticked off. I contacted Bayou Fitness and told them that I wanted my money back and the bike was back in the box all ready to be picked up by Fed-Ex all she needed to do was issue a call tag # like before. Not so fast I’m told. Stamina doesn’t take returns on damaged bikes but they issued a credit for the full purchase price and tell me to destroy the bike. Now today… exactly 2 months since I first ordered the bike I have received the credit in my bank account but I’m stuck with a broken bike. If I take it to the dump it’ll cost me money to throw it away. My advice… stay away from Bayou Fitness and Stamina products! I went to walmart and got the Gold’s Gym power spin 230 R and I love it!!!! And yes… they really do want me to destroy it – they even sent me an email requesting that I do so! Apparently they expect their customers to deal with their trash!

I bought this from [...] at 179.99 months ago for my own Christmas present. It has been a godsend. It helps me stay motivated and is an integral part of a 25lb weight loss so far. The 4-star rating is because of the many pieces it comes in and no tension adjustment from handlebars. Fortunately for me, my son Sam works on putting bikes together at his job so…. thank you son. I still highly recommend this bargain.

Many – if not all – of the other bikes at this price point aren’t ideal for tall people; they don’t really cater to those of us who are a couple standard deviations above (or below) the average height on the bell curve. So with some other bikes, if you’re tall, you might not be able to get your legs to extend properly.

This bike’s seat is adjustable along the diagonal, which was smart IMO as it lets the seat get pretty far away from the pedals while still keeping the bike frame itself relatively compact in terms of height and width. I’m 6′ 5″ and I fit fine. The easy adjustability is nice for tall people too, because if you live with anyone else, they’re likely not nearly the same height as you.

The bike itself is pretty nice for its price. The tension is easily adjustable from the handlebars and the seat is comfortable. So far it has been quiet and is holding up well to use.

I removed one star because of the little display pad thing; it’s beeps every time you get on or off the bike, it shuts off / resets too easily, and the heartbeat sensor and calorie counter seems way off. I pretty much just ignore the little display pad thing.

On December 30, 2010, I ordered this bike. It arrived three weeks later in a horribly battered box with parts dropping out. I returned it requesting a replacement. It is now February 14 and I have heard nothing from the company or Amazon. To say I would never order from this company again is putting it mildly.

This bike is well made and sturdy. It was not too hard to put together and rides well. The only thing I am not fond of is that the digital display is a bit hard to read. I plan to call Stamina to make sure I have not missed something as to the illumination. As far as I can tell it does not light up. You can see it as long as you have enough light in the room. The shipment arrived very fast and well packaged. All in all I am happy with my purchase.
