I am looking for a recumbent bike that has the ability to interface with a computer via usb to track my exercise results. Even a good piece of software to do this would be appreciated (mac osx)
I have found a few bikes, but I am looking for something in the sub $750 range.
A few things popped into my head..
How hard would it be to modify an existing exercise bike to transmit the stuff it dumps into it’s computer into mine?
Is there any sort of kit I can attach to any recumbent bike to track the statistics?

i know that the heavier the flywheel the better… but is a magnetic recumbent exercise bike with an 8kg flywheel bad because it is only 8kg? and if so what is a good weight for an average weight woman?

I don’t want to spend the close to $1000 dollars I keep seeing for a bike that is ok for someone over 250 lbs. I want to start doing something to get in better shape, and because I live in an area that is cold I would really like a stationary bike that I can ride regardless of weather. Does anyone know a good stationary exercise bike that’s weight limit is over 300? I know nothing about this magnetic recumbent stuff so any help, advice, answers is appreciated.

I tend to go about 20-23 mph for an hour or more in one session and of course, this constitutes some wear and tear. I need some input on models that are tough and durable that can withstand this. Right now I have a proform thing and it’s only 2 years old and already there are belts loose, it’s noisy (when new, these are virtually silent), it’s kind of unsturdy, and the pedal straps are busted up (it’s a paaain to replace those). Recumbent/Upright isn’t a factor, really; for price, I’d like to stay around $250 or less.
