Need weight loss help, not diet advice?

Okay, I know how to eat healthy. I have already begun cooking all my meals at home, doing the right thing food wise to help me in weight loss. I’m already eating more fruit and veggies, and less meat and correct size portions and eating things like fresh fruit and air popped pop corn for desserts and snacks. I even invested in a small cooler and have begun bringing my own healthy lunch to work and healthy snacks to eat during the day. I’ve got the eating/food part down. That I don’t need to tweek. Okay..whew.

Now, I’m 420 pounds. I know I need to loose weight, but I’m not sure where to begin. I know my ideal weight is 130-140 pounds but right now my goal is to get down to 300 pounds, then I’ll make a new goal to drop another 100 pounds and so forth.

Exercise wise, I have no idea where to begin. I’m doing a little bit of yoga (the best I can!) and I need to know what kind of workouts can I do? What are some good workout videos that I can buy? Should I get 2 or 5 pound weights? I own a set of 2 pound weights but a lot of videos suggest 5 pounds. Is that okay to use the 2 pound weights for a while? Which of the biggest loser videos are the best to do? BTW-I already own the Biggest loser cookbook and have been using it a lot.

Please don’t suggest things like bike riding or swimming. I have no place to store a bike in my apartment when I’m not using it, I don’t have access to a pool and I can’t find a suit in my size-I’ve looked everywhere or walking. I’m already walking briskly 5-10 minutes 3 times a week, which is all I can handle.

What about Richard Simmons tapes? He seems pretty geeky and out there to me. Has his tapes helped anyone loose weight?

His workout tapes, at least the VHS versions-are pretty cheap on Amazon and eBay.

I have both a DVD/VCR combo player, so it doesn’t matter if I get workout tapes on DVD or VHS.

I prefer working out at home because I feel intimidated going into a gym right now because of my size. What are some good workout tapes I can do at home? Thanks!!
to the first poster about fad diets: if fad diets are so bad then why are telling me to try one?

I’m not stupid. I know fad diets are bad. BTW would you or another poster please tell me what part of my question makes you think I’m trying a fad diet.

I need a workout plan?

If anyone has the time, it would be greatly appreciated for a little help thinking up a diet and exercise plan for me. I am sooo broke right now, or else I would just get a personal trianer. I have tried lots of different ways to keep myself motivated, but the only thing that really works is if someone else tells me to do it because I feel more obligated.
I am 5′11″ and I weight roughly 135 pounds. I am slender, but I basically am not toned anywhere, and I’ve noticed my skin is a big more jiggly :-| I basically need a daily workout routine that I know will work along with a cheap and easy diet (I’m a working college student, and don’t have the money or the time)
I don’t belong to a gym but I have a exercise ball and some basic hand weights and I live right by a bike path.

If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

so, i need a specialized cardio routine…?

so, i have this thing called joint hypermobility syndrome. it means that my joints are weak. that means that i have a really hard time running, and it’s really bad for my joints.

i do taekwondo twice a week, but that’s not a whole lot of cardio, and i really want to lose weight and body fat (around my stomach).

what are some cardio things i can do to lose belly fat?

we have: nordic track, treadmill, recumbant bike, and a bowflex, plus some hand weights if those help.

but i don’t have a WHOLE lot of time…20-30 minutes 4 days a week is all i have free. thanks!

PS: i’m muscular, but i need less fat, if that helps…5′3″, 120, girl, 14….thank you!

Need to lose weight by August…?

Iam trying to lose weight from my stomach,legs and face so Iam also wondering what can i do (exercises,machines ect.) because I wanted to buy a tradmill or those stationary bikes but they only help you lose most weight on your legs.So is there one that can help both thats cheap? And what can help motavate me to do exercises because iam very lazy to do them. I need to lose weight really badly.

I need to look good in this swimsuit..please help me!?

Okay my b-day party is in about 2 and a half weeks and I really need to look good inn my two piece swimsuit!

This is my first hotel party and im so friken happy I could just….ugh!! Im just so excited! lol

My only problem is that my stomach area and my thighs. I weigh like 135 and I know that im growning and please dont say “oh honey, you’re just growning thats not the answer im looking for. It’s not gonna go away in the next 3 weeks, just because im still growning.

I have a big exercise ball and a bike.
So I can do those.

But do you have any other tips such as cheap healthy things to eat or any simple weightloss exercise tricks?
Please please help me.

PLEASE DONT SAY “BE YOURSELF.”
this is not just to look good in front of my guests
i dont feel good about myself at all.

Need some advice on buying a bike?

I haven’t bought a bike in, well…ever. Not since I was a kid have I had a bike and now my wife wants us to start going on bike rides as a way of getting out and exercising more. I’m on board with that.

So basically I need advice on bikes that are fairly cheap that will give us the most bang for our buck. We don’t want to spend very much because quite frankly, it isn’t as if we’re going to be doing tricks with the bike, going on rough trails or going up mountains. We’ll be mostly going around town and maybe some trails in the country. Nothing really adventurous.

It doesn’t matter to me where the bike comes from as long as it’ll probably hold up decently well to light riding and perhaps last a couple years at least. That’s all.

Under 200 bucks would be wonderful. Again, I realize I won’t be winning the Tour de France…I just want the most reliable and best I can get for cheap.

How many minutes per day do I need to work on my recumbent bike to see weight loss?

I am a female in her early 30’s, 5ft. 2, 165lbs (oh no!!!) who just bought a recumbent bike. I needed something non-jarring due to some upper vertebrae degeneration I have. How many minutes per day do I need to be on this bike to see some weight loss results? My diet is the typical American diet, though I am switching to more baked foods and less sodas. Would like to start off with a solid excersise program first, then modify my diet gradually day by day. I have yo-yo’d so many times in the past, with diet pills, starving, and what not, and just want to be healthy this time. Drastic is not for me anymore, as I wish to preserve my health and not be jarring or harmful to my body. Thank you.

I’m fat and need to loose weight?

I weigh 412 pounds. I need to loose about 250.

Physically, I can not do yoga. I can not get down on the floor to do crunches. I have back problems that prevent me from doing sit ups, push ups and crunches.

I know walking is the best thing for me. I am walking outside my apartment complex for about 10-15 minutes a day. I know walking is the best thing.

Bike riding: I do not own a bike. I am physically unable to haul it up and down to my 2nd floor apartment anyway. Swimming: I do not have access to a swimming pool. I also can not find a swim suit in my size.

Gym/work out room: Yes, my complex has a fitness room with a treadmill and weights. However, I can not use it because the weight limit on the treadmill, exercise bike and free standing weights bench has a limit of 300 pounds. At 412 pounds, that means I’m 112 pounds to fat to even think about using it.

I am physically unable to jump so jumping jacks are out. I can’t even jump high enough to use a jump rope. Besides, if I jumped roped, I would have sound issues with my downstairs neighbors.

I do not have a YMCA in my area. I would have to drive 15 miles out of my way, and I can not afford the gas to drive 30 miles out of my way 3-5 times a week. It is not because I’m lazy. I want to go. But with gas prices being so high, I can’t afford to drive. Public buses are out of the question because the bus trip just to get there would take two hours. (I already checked) and I’m not sitting on a bus/waiting for one for 3 1/2 to 4 hours a day.

I am looking for cheap or free workout equipment and easy workouts to do at home with little or no equipment needed. I’m willing to buy weights and workout videos that I can do at home. What are some good suggestions?

With the diet thing, I’m already following the diet plan my Dr. and I worked out and am eating a heart healthy/low sodium diet. I’ve cut out junk food and other crap. I’m eating healthy, but not skimping or depriving myself.

Need help with health & fitness.?

I have a hypothyroid so have gained 20 pounds and need to loose it. The problem is when exercising after 10 minutes I get very itchy and then welts appear. This happens within 10 minutes of strenuous exercise.

What do you recommed for exercise? Also should I join a gym or get a recumbant bike or exercise equipment for home?
Thank you all for your answers! I went to the doctor and I have to premedicate with Clariton prior to exercising. I have exercise-induced anaphylaxis. I didn’t choose a best answer because they were all great!

HELP! Every Bike I get keeps breaking down right away and I need to know what kind of bike I should buy?

Every time I get a seemingly decent, but cheap used bike, I ride it for a week or a few hours and then something breaks on it, and it’s such a hassle to have my grandpa constantly nagging at me, wanting to fix it for me, then he fixes it then it breaks again in a day, it’s ugly.

I don’t know how to fix bikes myself, I’m not mechanically inclined by any means. I love biking however, and I desperately need exercise, and I get tired of jogging, and biking is key. However, my dreams are always cut short by bike problems.

Anyway, I’ve been wondering if there’s some kind of bike that you can get that actually doesn’t easily break, and that I could ride for miles and miles up hills and what not, and be totally at bliss?

If I went out and got a heavy duty mountain bike or something like that for 500 or a thousand bucks, would it be worth it? Or is there a good less expensive kind of bike I should get?

Also, I get annoyed with multispeed bikes, because there’s always an annoying clicking sound, and it always seems to try to shift by itself when I’m going up a hill or something and it’s annoying. Is this just because all the bikes I’ve ridden are crappy? Or should I get a 1 speed bike?

Where is a good place to shop for bikes? I’d really like to try the bike out first for a time, before commiting to buy, like taking a car for a testdrive first, is there a store someplace where I can do that?

I’m in the dark here people, and I need your help!
