I had this for a while but forgot who makes it. Basically, it’s simple.
Imagine a recumbent magnetic exercise bike. It’s a dual action machine that when you flip the seat back, it turns into an elliptical.
I got rid of it because it squeaked a bit and I have neighbors below me.

Padded bicycle seat or good pair of bike shorts?

Im looking to take up cycling as a regular exercise soon. The problem is the seat on my bike gets very uncomfortable quickly. I normally wear baggy cargo style shorts and cheap bike shorts for chaffing.
Would it be beneficial to buy a fully padded seat for the bike to ease the discomfort or just look at some better quality bike shorts?
Comfort is more important to me than cost.
Thanks for your answers guys. I dont care about how I look per se but comfort is very important if I plan to do this long term. Im also looking to do a spin class also.

I’m a student and I got a bike a while back. It was basically a cheap bike to get around campus. Now I’ve started using it to ride trails, etc for a form of moderate exercise. The bike itself doesn’t not have any kind of springs to absorb shock and the seat is pretty hard, so I’d like to buy a new seat that is more comfortable and which has springs. I would like some recommendations on brands and models. I’m looking to spend between $30 and $50ish. Thank you for any help you can provide!

what’s the ideal distance between pedals (17 cm) and the bike seat?

The seat will be used constantly, and slightly recumbent.
I estimated out 65-70 cm, but perhaps some-one may have the answer.
I’m basing in on a normal to small build man (5 ft – 6ft )
Stationary bike seat uncomfortable, any tips?

I love using the stationary bike, EXCEPT that the seat on it really hurts to sit on after 15 or 20 minutes. I could pedal forever if I could just sit comfortably. For awhile I sat on different pillows, but then that eventually was more uncomfortable then sitting on the seat itself. Is there any way to change the seat of the bike, or put something over it thats more comfortable? Has anyone else with this problem been successful with something? Should I just get a recumbent bike? I don’t know how those compare to upright bikes. What should I do?

I’d like tips on how to build a back on a normal bike seat.
My only idea so far is to bend an aluminum tube into a V-shape and weld it to a tightening-ring-thing attached to the seat tube, so that it goes up or down along with the seat.
