what type of bike would be best?
would you let 13 year old son buy a $1200 bike?
the bike has everything i want, it is a cannondale Rush 5 with a full suspension and a lefty fork. it is only $1200 the cheapest in the state, if you were to get a hardtail that would be another $300 .the bike is a 2007.i want to get this to replace my 2005 trek 3900 which is a safety hazard to ride, whenever you are pedeling the chain always gets tied up in the pedels and you dont know when it is going to happen. Also it would be payed off by november which is just half of a year away, so it is not like i am losing that much money. My mom says she wont let me get it because i will be buying a car in 3 years and she thinks it would be a waste. but i disagree because i will be going to college just 1 year after i get my car and my license, and with gas surley being at least $7 dolars a gallon i will be riding my bike around campus to save money and get an exercise. my mom says if i was a little younger like 8-10 she would let me get it, but who would trust an 8 year old with a $1200 bike
i would be paying for it myself without a loan

What would be the ultimate touring bike?
I want to ride across america on a recumbent bike. This is the bike I will build unless any one can find a better one: http://funnyfarmart.com/ultimate_touring_bike.htm
This is not a Rans formula….it is totoaly unique, note the sterring.
I can’t go back to riding regular bikes because they hurt my wrists and spine.
Climbing hills on recumbent is a matter of slowing down and building extra leg muscle before your trip. I have been training with an extra 100lbs for years.
I wouldn’t go on long tour if I couldnt fix the bike my self.
How much weight would I lose?
In your opinion how much weight do you think I would lose if I followed this plan. By the way I am 5′7 and 186 pounds
Breakfast: Apple
Lunch: Carrots and Almonds
Dinner: Large salad with a little dressing
Snack: Fruit and nut bars, fruit, veggies
I would also drink 10 10ounce glasses of water a day.
Exercise:
45min. on recumbent bike
2 mile walk
Arm and stomach exercises
How much weight would I lose on this in…
one week?
two weeks?
one month?
Please no answers about how you think its unhealthy.
Would my neck bone spur make my leg twitch? It twitches constantly, aleve, etc. doesn’t help?
I exercise on a recumbent bike and a tony little eclipse, might those be aggravating it? The twitch is new, the exercises and bone spur are not new.
Would I diet like this be helpful?
Points: Weight Watchers Points
Monday: 15 pts or 800 calories, 45 minutes of exercise.
Tuesday: 20 pts or 1000 calories, 30 minutes of exercise.
Wednesday: 20 pts or 1000 calories, 30 minutes of exercise.
Thursday: 20 pts or 1000 calories, 30 minutes of exercise
Friday: 22 points or 1200 calories, 30 minutes of exercise.
Saturday: 20 pts or 1000 calories, 30 minutes of exercise.
Sunday: Day of rest!
Sunday would be a day where I wouldn’t really have to worry about everything meaning it could be my splurge day so I wouldn’t get to overwhelmed with a strict diet.
What do you think?
I am getting a recumbent exercise bike, have stairs in my home, and am looking into fitness dvd’s to add to exercise so I won’t get bored. In addition, I have a membership to a local gym where I can take classes or just go work out and there are some places around that I can safely take walks…
All the calories and points are appropriate amounts for me based on weight, height, age, gender, etc. I was just not sure if it would be okay to have them vary.
Yoohoo! Equiptment question. What would you choose?
Hi everyone! I am planning on joining a gym in the near future. But, since I am a mother of 5 children and very busy with transporting, and sometimes homebound with a sick child, I would like to get something to have here for when I can’t make it to the gym.
I have been considering an elliptical, recumbant bike, or treadmill. What in your opinion is most effective for burning calories and giving the best overall *quick* workout? What features should I look for?
Thanks for any intelligent answers you leave me
Would like to hear about your success or failure…..?
Thinking about buying a recumbent exercise bike. I was introduced to this type of exercise equipment through my local gym….think that I could keep up with a regular exercise regimen. Ladies particularly….what benefits have you achieved with this type of bike? How many pounds lost? Does this bike help the “saggy butt” issue? Thanks!
What is the best type of bike for city riding? And what kind of bike would you recommend I buy?
I don’t really have the money to replace my bike, but I will be using it every day soon and I want to have something road worthy.
I may start looking for used, but I need help deciding what to look for:
I like (need) a comfort saddle (like the kind you find on Specialized Comfort bikes).
I like to lean forward a bit (not ride in upright position).
I ride in the city, on pavement that is smooth (but for they occasional crack or bump).
Sometimes I ride hard and I desire performance; I use my bike for exercise and less often transportation (though that may be changing).
I enjoy my current ride: a cheap Specialized hybrid (comfort/mountain), but it’s kind of boring, not enough balls I might say.
Specific models would be great (but keep the MSRP under $500).
Would this be a good way to lose some weight/get stronger?
So, I’ve gotten super lazy over the past few years. I got a slight potbelly and my legs could use some slimming down. Chin fat is starting to be a problem as well. Would getting an exercise bike and sticking to a schedule and increasing every week or so be helpful for burning fat and gaining muscle strength? I’m looking for something I wouldn’t hate and its the cheapest exercise machine I’ve seen. Thanks
how much would you pay for a used recumbent bike?
i need to get one but buying a new one is costly. how much would you pay for a used one in good shape? and what are things i should look for in buying a used one? thanks.
Will a fairing protect me from gnats I would otherwise collide with as I ride my bicycle?
I’ve seen these fairings around, I think I’d like to get one with a semi recumbent bike but I’m not sure if it would protect me from the gnats. I hate gnats.
if there is such a thing, where would i find a device to power my tv from my stationary bike?
its a 27″ color set, a couple years old, the bike is a stationary recumbent bike also a couple years old
